About Me

I never planned on becoming a journalist — it just happened. In 2016, as a chemical engineering major at the University of Oklahoma, I saw an email from The OU Daily looking for copy editors. I had a sharp eye for detail and thought, Why not? I applied, got the job, and quickly developed a deep appreciation for journalism. That summer, I realized I found reporting far more engaging than chemical engineering, so I made the switch.

What I love most about journalism is the variety — no two days are ever the same. I thrive on learning new things, meeting people from all walks of life, and witnessing history firsthand. Journalism isn’t just about reporting facts; it’s about telling stories that matter, holding the powerful accountable, and creating the first draft of history.

Since June 2022, I’ve worked as a journalist in various capacities, from internships to freelance reporting. My bylines appear in The Norman Transcript, The Journal Record, Oklahoma Voice, The Purcell Register, and NonDoc Media, among others. In 2024, I spent a semester in Washington, D.C., reporting for Gaylord News. One of my proudest moments was securing an exclusive scoop when Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt revealed to me in a one-on-one interview that he was endorsing Donald Trump for president.

I focus on government and criminal justice reporting, but I have an interest in investigative journalism and feature writing. Truth-seeking is my guiding principle. I believe journalists have a responsibility to cut through misinformation and provide the public with accurate, meaningful reporting.

Outside of journalism, I’m a devoted reader with a personal library of over 300 books. I collect coffee mugs, drink A LOT of tea, and frequent cafes, art museums, Broadway shows, and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
